The major updates of the QVR 5.0.3 are as below:

[Important Notice]

  1. New QVR for VioStor NVR with official GNU Bash Update.
    QVR5.0.3 has fixed the GNU Bash Environment Variable Command Injection Vulnerability (also known as “Shellshock”) CVE-2014-6277, CVE-2014-6278, CVE-2014-7186 and CVE-2014-7187.
  2. Supports new WD PurpleŽ 6TB surveillance hard drives for 2-8 bay tower series .
  3. Before updating the system, please ensure the NVR system (with drives installed) has been initialized.
    It may take several minutes to finish updating the system depending on your network status. The system will inform you when it has been updated.
    When performing a system update, ensure the power supply is stable. Failure to do so may cause the system to be unable to start.
    After the system been has updated, please restart the server.
    After upgrading to QVR 5.0.3, we do not recommend downgrading to previous versions.
  4. For optimized system performance, please use a minimum of five hard drives for RAID 5 or at least six hard drives for RAID 6 on VS-12100U-RP Pro(+), VS-8100U-RP Pro(+) and VS-8100 Pro+ series NVRs.
  5. To view live videos and to export videos using Internet Explorer, please add the NVR IP address to your list of Trusted Sites. If you are accessing it for the first time you will be prompted to install an ActiveX add-on.
  6. For VS-4100U-RP Pro+, to use NVR alarm input and output functionality, please refer to this tutorial to update the NVR's BIOS in local display mode.
  7. Supported Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Vista, 7 and 8
  8. Fixed an issue with smart recording where the NVR would only recover the normal stream from a camera after disconnecting the camera.
  9. Updated time zones for Moscow, Asia/Yekaterinburg, Asia/Yakutsk, Asia/Vladivostok and Asia/Magadan. After installing this firmware, please change to another time zone then change back to your desired time zone.

[Known Issues]

  1. We recommend disabling UAC (User Account Control) to gain full surveillance functions. Please refer to: http://www.qnapsecurity.com/faq_detail.asp?faq_id=503.
  2. In the local display playback mode, there is a possibility that users cannot search for recording files after changing the date and time configuration.
  3. In e-Map mode, camera icons on the second layer e-map cannot be removed if the first layer e-map is removed and the second layer e-map is re-added.
  4. Cannot update QVR firmware if there is no HDD installed when using Qfinder. 
  5. Playing videos recorded during time zone changes will trigger an unexpected error.
